Celebrity hairstylist and educator Monae Everett styled Maleah Joi Moon's pixie cut for the Tony Awards.
The biggest and brightest stars in musical theatre were out in full force for this year's Tony Awards to recognize achievement in Broadway productions during the 2023–24 season.
Maleah Joi Moon took home a Tony Award on Sunday, June 16 for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her Broadway debut in Alicia Key's "Hell's Kitchen."
Everett (@monaeartistry) recognized the importance of healthy hair in styling Maleah's pixie cut for the big night.
"As the leading lady Ali in 'Hell's Kitchen,' Maleah works long hours under hot lights and undergoes multiple wig changes, which can be grueling on her hair, leaving it weak and dull," Everett shares. "Thus, healthy hair is key to any stunning hairstyle."

- We began with the Olaplex Stand-Alone Treatment Intense Bond Builder.
- Next, we shampooed and conditioned her hair with the Aveda Nutri Plenish line for deep hydration. Hydrating products are a must-have after restoring protein in the hair.
- The most crucial part of prepping the hair for a short style is the wrap. I added "It’s a 10" Miracle Glossing Leave-In Conditioner to emphasize her hair’s shine on the red carpet.
- Then, I applied Design Essentials Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion and used a rat-tail comb to smooth her hair in the desired direction.
- I applied Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel on the shorter nape and sides, then secured her hair with wrap strips as she dried under a hooded dryer.
- Once dried, I added two pumps of Ouidad Shine Glaze Serum to release the hair that was wrapped in place.
- I blow-dried her hair with a brush and trimmed it, giving her the perfect pixie cut for the occasion.
- I added Keracare Hair Wax Stick before I curled her hair diagonally using a 1-inch curling iron and brushed it into place.
- To finish, I secured the look with got2b Hard Hold Spray.
