Time to Reflect

Time to ReflectHighlight the importance of this handy product.

If your clients’ makeup bags lack a highlighter, it’s time to fill them in on how to positively “reflect” this season. “Highlighter can really lend a lifted look,” says Sormé educator Fari Hosseinan, citing highlighter’s age-reversing points. “Apply it on the tops of cheekbones for a healthy looking glow, or under the eyebrow for an immediate brow lift.” Julie Hewett, renowned makeup artist and founder of her eponymous pro-makeup line, recommends patting liquid highlighter onto cheekbones for a “more natural and dewy look, rather than over-the-top shine,” while Hosseinan values placement: “Blend along the cheekbones upward toward the outer corner of the eye and along the temple in a ‘C’ formation” to impart a subtle, youthful glow.

Light Eyes!

Our pros lend these eye-opening highlighter tips:

Tiny lids: Highlight across the entire upper lid to attract light from all directions.

Flat lids: Apply highlighter in an upward stroke on the inner area of the eyelid toward the brow bone.

Puffy lids: Highlight just below the eyebrow arch.

Wide-set eyes: Smudge highlighter along the middle of the creases of the eyes.

Close-set eyes: Apply highlighter to the outer third of the top lash line and blend outward.
